CASEing the Catty #137 - FYI You're Fabulous!

Hi everyone! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. It's a pretty special weekend for me as this is my first post as a CASEing the Catty Crew Member! The Crew advertised last month that they would be accepting new Crew Members & if you were interested let them know & participate in the challenges for the month of June. I was one of the lucky ones to be chosen to join a very talented group of ladies who each week take inspiration from our gorgeous catalogue images and CASE (Copy & Selectively Edit or Copy & Share Everything) to create their own masterpieces! If you are not starting with me you have probably hopped over from Rachel, I'm sure you loved what she had to show you!

This week we are CASEing the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue pages 132 -181.

I have chosen to case the card above on the left.

It's quite obvious I've kept with the flamingo's! Instead of the two coloured birds, I've just done the one, fussy cut out & popped up on some dimensionals in front of a some silhouetted flamingos for drama, drama, drama. The semi circular greeting element has also been CASEd.

The steps I took to make this card were:

  • start with a Basic Black card base (inside I have done a Whisper White (WW) insert with some palm fronds stamped & stamped off in Flirty Flamingo (FF))
  • then a matt of  FF and on top of that a WW matt
  • the Fabulous Flamingo Stamp Set is a three step stamp set, I've stamped the solid image four times with the Archival Black Stamp Pad onto the WW matt **TIP- have some baby wipes on hand to keep those fingers super clean, it is really easy to get black where you don't want it! Not that I am talking from experience (wink, wink).
  • on a scrap piece of WW stamp the base layer of the flamingo in Powder Pink (PP) the second layer in FF and the final outline layer in black & fussy cut around. I may have said this before but I have quite a few pairs of scissors & put off buying the Stampin' Up! Paper Snips, when I finally did, it was why did I wait? They are a dream to use, especially for fussy cutting!
  • pop coloured flamingo up on dimensionals and layer in front of black ones
  • die cut a large stitched circle with the framelits in FF & a smaller one in PP
  • emboss the FF circle with the Sparkle Embossing Folder & trim to a semi circle, adhere to front
  • stamp FYI You're Gorgeous (Tabs for Everthing Stamp Set) in Black onto PP circle & adhere some Rhinestone Basioc Jewels, layer on top popped up on dimensionals.
Want to know something crazy? I made this card 11 times for a recent card swap I participated in, it took all day but I was happy with my swap & hope those that received it were too.

Now that's all from me this week it is time for you to keep on hopping to see all the amazingness that the crew has created for you this week, your next stop on the hop is my fellow crew member Rose who is also new to the Design Team, so make sure you leave her some blog love & leave her a comment (click on the next blog button below or her name). For those of you not so familiar with this "blogging" thing we do, if you are reading our blogs in their entirety on your email program, you need to actually click on the title of our email, this will take you to our actual websites and there is where you can leave a comment!! Go on I dare you!

Colour INKspiration #13 - Guest Designer- Woot Woot!

Hello everyone! I am very pleased today to be blog hopping with the Colour INKspiration Design Team as their Guest Designer this fortnight. You might be starting with me or perhaps hopped over from my friend Lou Kitzelman, bet you are inspired after seeing her work! I LOVE these colour challenges and was so stoked to win the 11th challenge and a spot as a Guest Designer for 13th challenge. I was really happy with the card I made for the 11th challenge and jokingly said to my daughter, "How funny would it be if I won this one as I will be away on holidays and may not be able to accept the guest spot?". Well of course Murphy's Law, I did win so got home late Saturday and had to quickly whip up a card on Sunday before back to work Monday! It was a bit of a whirlwind and after two weeks of no creating it took a little while for the creative brain to kick in but in the end I have produced a card I am happy with!

Ok, enough whaffling the card....

It was a given that the Large Letter Framelits would feature in my card as they have been on my wish list for a while & arrived while I was away so I was super excited to get them out and give them a whirl. I cut them firstly with a piece of DSP from Pieces & Patterns and then die cut them again in Lemon Lime Twist to use as a shadow. The Flowers are from the Jar of Love Stamp Set, one of my favourites!

A new product in the catalogue that made popping up those letters so much easier was the mini dimensionals, so much quicker than cutting larger one into smaller bits!

I also did a little bit of prettying up the inside using the fab new washi tape and some leftover flowers from the front!

The colour brief for this challenge was Lemon Lime Twist, Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum & Wild Wasabi.

After you've hopped around to see everyone's beautiful work, why don't you join in on the fun and enter the challenge?! Your next stop is with Rachel Palmieri, she'll have something to wow you!

ESAD Blog Hop Favourites from the 2017/18 Annual Stampin Up Catalogue

Hello everyone! Have you missed me? Did you even notice my absence!?

Haha! It's been quite a while between posts as lucky me has been on road trip holiday for just over two weeks! We had the best time exploring The Great Ocean Road and the easterly coastline of Victoria and south east coast of New South Wales. Here in Australia we are so spoiled with magnificent coastlines. The Great Ocean Road has been on my "to do" list for quite a while and now after quickly stopping by places like Kiama & Jervis Bay, just to name a couple, there is more holidays added to the list.

Now on to our ESAD Blog Hop. If you have been hopping along you would've just come from the my awesome upline Peta Stephen, didn't you just love what she created for you!? If you are starting with me make sure you hop along and see all the amazing projects the ESAD members have created for you. At the end of each person's post you will see an arrow, just click on that and you will be taken to the next person's blog. If you get lost along the way at the end of my post is a list of the participants, you can also click on their name and be taken straight to their blog post.

Pick your favourites, the theme for this blop hop, seems like such an easy task, but when talking about Stampin' Up products, it's like picking a favourite child! One suite, that to tell you the truth wasn't on my radar first up but now I am just so in love with is the Pick a Pattern Suite. I love it's quirkiness, bright colours and unisex appeal.

My project that I am sharing with you today is not only a card but also a memory keeping project as well. When you untie the bow and open the card there is a tri fold piece that you pull out and several places to mount photos on either side.

The above photo shows the front side. I've made little "polaroid" frames by die cutting with one of my Layering Square Framelits positioned centered towards the top of a Whisper White rectangle piece of card stock. The green piece is edged with another favourite new addition to the Annual Catalogue, the Ticket Tear Border Punch. I've left the green piece blank to write a message on but you could also use this piece for another photo too.

The above photo shows the flip side of the tri fold piece. One of the things I most love about the Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper is that it is double sided with a quirky pattern on one side and a graphic pattern on the other. The stamp set Pieces & Patterns that is part of the suite has cute funky images and also some great pattern stamps.

Here is the front again. I love all the new 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folders, especially the one I have used here, Ruffled.

Enough from me! Time for you to hop along to see what amazingness Richelle has in store for you!

Thank you as always for stopping by.

Cheers Megan xx
